The Claims Department is comprised of five Claims Examiners who oversee our members’ liability claims. In addition we have six in-house Legal Counsel who defend legal claims brought against our members. In some instances, outside legal counsel are retained to handle complex and time consuming litigation files.
Claims Handling Philosophy
The Claims and Legal Department are committed to resolving our members’ claims on a principled basis; we therefore do not pay nuisance settlements and will only make an indemnity payment where a liability exposure to a member has been identified. In that case, we endeavor to resolve the claim in accordance with the amount of risk exposure. If our investigations indicate our member does not face a liability exposure, we will defend the matter thoroughly; to trial if necessary.
