Position for Hire: Office & HR Manager

The Municipal Insurance Association of British Columbia, founded in 1987, is a non-profit reciprocal insurance exchange formed to provide insurance and risk management services for BC local governments.  The focus of the MIABC is efficient risk financing and effective risk management measures for the benefit of the member local governments, which currently number 167. Its staff of 24 operates out of its own building located near the Olympic Village Station in Vancouver, B.C.

The MIABC is seeking an Office & HR Manager to take responsibility for managing its office operations, supervising administrative staff, and providing human resource services. Responsibilities will include managing the delivery of administrative and human resource services, implementing operational best practices, payroll and employee benefits, coordinating staff training and professional development, and drafting and implementing comprehensive personnel policies and manuals. The Office & HR Manager will report to the Controller.

The ideal candidate will be a reliable, detail oriented self-starter who takes a team approach towards work and has a minimum of two years post-secondary education; have 10 years of work experience in office administration in a similar role with responsibility for administrative services in an organization with 20 – 30 office staff; possess effective leadership skills with a strong focus on operations and business processes; and be able to identify key issues and creatively overcome challenges or obstacles. A CHRP designation is preferred.
