After a 20-year career in the public school system, children grown, and an empty nest, Wendy decided, with the full support of her family, to enter the world of local government. In 2010, she began her career as the Chief Financial Officer for the District of New Hazelton followed shortly thereafter taking on the CAO role, a position she has held for over a decade.
Quickly immersing herself in the role, she surrounded herself with an amazing network of colleagues and organizations dedicated to local government. Wendy served on the Northern BC Tourism Association Board of Directors for several years and is an Accredited Credit Union Director currently sitting on the board of the Bulkley Valley Credit Union.
MIABC staff has played an integral role in helping this CAO to create public policies and foster personal growth through their knowledge and expertise.
