Members own both an insurance company and an insurance brokerage.

The MIABC’s brokerage arm, Civic Risk Insurance Solutions (CRIS), was created in response to our members’ desire to have the flexibility of having one place which they can go to meet all of their insurance needs. With CRIS, we have the ability to access the insurance marketplace directly on behalf of our membership to purchase coverage that is not provided by the MIABC directly.

If the MIABC doesn’t cover something, we will leverage our access and our partnerships to make sure you get the coverage you need. The global reach of CRIS allows us to place coverage at the best available coverage terms and prices available.

In addition to brokering stand-alone insurance policies for our members, CRIS give us the ability to create exclusive in-house insurance programs that aren’t available anywhere else. These programs include:
- Cyber Liability Insurance
- Legal Expense Insurance
Similar to coverage the MIABC provides directly, potential CRIS insurance programs are presented to members to ensure that the coverage offered by these exclusive programs actually meets their needs.
We can provide many other brokerage services, beyond simply the placement of coverage. Our in-house insurance brokers are available to provide many additional services, including:
- Recommendations on enhancements to existing coverage;
- Advice on insurance language for contracts; and
- Reviews of certificates provided to you by your contractors.
